Friends of Kinney Bungalow will hold The Fourth Annual “Honoring Lucia” evening will be held Friday,Aug. 22, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Kinney Bungalow, 505 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Cost of admission is $8. The summer students of the Shoreline Dance Company will present original works choreographed by Lu-Anne Cox, Director of Shoreline Dance. The performance will be followed by a brief reading by Alex Ewing from his book “Call Me Lucia” which is scheduled to be published next summer.

Ewing is the son of Lucia Chase, who owned Kinney Bungalow and Sunset Farm from 1935 until her death in 1986. Ewing, who resides in North Carolina and visits Narragansett each year, sold the property to the Town of Narragansett in 1991, thereby preserving both the farmland and the Bungalow for posterity. Lucia Chase was a principal dancer and a founding member of the American Ballet Company, and was also its artistic director for many years. She also won many local dance competitions in and around Narragansett. She often brought members of the ballet troupe to Narragansett in the summer, and they frequently rehearsed at Kinney Bungalow.
This annual evening is a tribute to her and her achievements, and we are proud to carry on her tradition of “Ballet at the Bungalow.”, with both summer classes and this end-of-summer
performance. The dance performance and reading will be followed by complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. The event is sponsored by O’Neill’s Package Store. For further information, call 788-0823
